Low Carb Diet

A Low Carb Diet is one of the best strategies you can use to lose or control your weight.

But first let's quickly look at what carbohydrates do for you. They are not all bad. In fact, we need a good amount each day. In this article we'll look at why most people should eat less carbs.

In a word your body uses carbs for fuel. Fuel for energy. Fuel for the central nervous system. Fuel for your muscular system (even if you don't think you have a muscular system, trust me you do).

So now we appreciate them for the vital role they play, so now why should we consider a Low Carb Diet?

No one should ever suggest ruling them out altogether. That'd be irresponsible. It's a Low Carb Diet, not a no carb diet we're talking about. Anyway cutting them out altogether is pretty much impossible.

A better way to look at this to ask "how can I reduce the amount in my diet?"

But first let's look at why you should reduce the amount of carbs in your diet. The reason why can be explained by how your body processes them. In the simplest terms, the carbohydrates found in the food you eat are either burned off or stored as fat. So...

  • Not enough exercise for the amount of carbs you eat will result in your body producing fat. And putting that fat in all the wrong places!

Anyway, back to how to reduce the amount to get to your new diet program

Again, in the simplest terms (you can tell I really, really like simple ideas), the most effective way is to increase the amount of protein you eat. It's all about finding a balance that suits you and your weight and energy goals.

Serving Suggestions

For example, at lunch, add some grilled chicken to a salad instead of having a bread roll or sandwich. What about trying to go without rice with your Asian dinner tonight? And I don't need to convince you about how bad processed sugars (probably the worst kind of carbs) are for your waist-line and your energy levels.

A side benefit of upping the protein you eat is you will feel fuller for longer. That means less snacking between meals. It also means more energy throughout the day.

So a for simple (there's that word again) strategy to lose weight or at least control it is to adopt a Low Carb Diet. Try it for two weeks and find out how it can work for you.
